Time keeps on slipping...into the future

I had an interesting experience a couple of days ago that got me
thinking about time.

I was involved in a car accident caused by failed brakes. Within
a few seconds, what was a pleasant slow drive home with my dad
turned into shocked silence as he attempted to stop the car with
the least possible damage.

On reflection, in that brief period of time between when we
collided with the raised median in the road and a bus load of
people before he eventually stopped the car, my mind was EMPTY.
I did not have any thoughts.

Later on as we made our way home it occurred to me that whatever
happens, life goes on. The crowd that had gathered to help/gape
at the damage had dispersed and for anyone driving past my dad
and I continuing the rest of our journey on foot, what had
happened to us would be just an interesting story - an event
that happened in another time...HISTORY.

I thought about the time I came back to live in Lagos - a
landmark event in my life - already almost a DECADE ago! And
that other time I thought I was going to lose my mind because my
life was not working out - already 7 years old.

Come to think of it, where I am now is the future I could not
picture 2 years ago...where did the time go?

One thing that did stand out for me that evening was the fact
that I had really enjoyed that day. I would not have spent it
any other way. And that gave me a good feeling - in spite of
what happened.

The sayings are true: Time goes on. Time waits for no-one. Time
keeps on slipping...into the future.

Enjoy today!
